The Study group Channidae
The study group is hoasted by the snakeheadsuk forum at http://TheSnakeheadForum.com, it is free to join and is set up as a group of people who would like to look into the species a bit deeper, projects are decided on by its members, be it a project by one person or a team effort. The findings of the groups work will be published on the website, The group is open to anyone with a passion for the species channidae ,from the most experianced keepers / breeders to the beginer who is willing to go the extra mile, to do research and help out with the projects.
The group started out strong , but a couple of early setbacks with internet providers saw a lot of work lost and the group lost its momentum , with the start of our new service provider we are looking to get the group going again, if you are interested please contact either admin , techs , mods or sgc members on the forum who will do what is needed to get you set up as a sgc member.
our current project is to compile a series of species guides for each type of snakeheads , only 3 or 4 are compleate , so there are many left to choose from , there is a template for the information that should be included , then it is a simple process of researching your chosen fish to fill in all the fields , anything your unsure about other members are always willing to help , this is a great project for anyone wanting to join the group
Other projects looked at include the teeth structure of diferant channa , this project is still ongoing but it is becoming apparent there are three distinct teeth patterns shared accross all channa tested so far , although the spacing and size of the teeth differ the pattern is genrally the same , The results of this project will be published after more fish are tested
we are always looking for new members with fresh ideas
